Max

Hi! My name is Maxwell Johnson, they call me Max. I am a 2 1/2 year old Shih Tzu. I have known Nanny Nancy since I was a young puppy. She has cared for me on many occasions and my Mom feels I am getting the best of care.

Nanny Nancy lives with her husband and family of dogs. When I go there everyone plays with me. Besides getting my belly rubbed and body messages I also have stories read to me. I think I get VIP treatment.

My Mom says Nanny Nancy and Michael are a super nice couple. I think so too! I like to be treated special.

Thank you,

Max and my Mom

Shakespeare

Shakespeare is a Shepherd mix I adopted from the Parma Animal Shelter in 2001. I was looking for an older dog but this excessively barking 9 month old pup wouldn’t give up until I paid attention to him. I simply went to his cage as he stood up and said, “If you would stop barking and be still I will consider taking you home with me.” Shakespeare instantly complied and well, the rest is history. Shakespeare learned commands quickly but being a spirited dog a year later he playfully ran away from home. I contacted every organization in our community and all online resources that might help me find my beloved Shakespeare to no avail. After 10 exhausting, depressing days while scraping snow off my car Shakespeare appeared at my feet. My eyes couldn’t believe it! A reunion straight out of a “Lassie” episode and he has never left my side since.

Cooke Family

Koona is a purebred Standard American Eskimo Dog we adopted from the Cuyahoga County Kennel 2003. Looking for a pal for our Alpha Shepherd mix Shakespeare became quite a task. With the help from one of the knowledgeable C.C.K. staff WE didn’t choose a “pal” after all, our alpha chose Koona himself. Much to our chagrin Koona was the scruffiest dog in the kennel. His sweet face stole our hearts and well who could argue with the alpha! One neuter and flea bath and grooming week later we picked up a beautiful sparkling Koona and Shakespeare had HIS pal! It’s been two years and the shy, timid dog that didn’t even know what a ball was is the happy-carefree-toy loving best friend that Shakespeare always wanted and we adore.

Loki

Loki, a Brown Tabby Domestic Short-Hair, was adopted from the Cleveland APL in June of 2002. Loki was chosen from numerous kittens for two reasons: one, he showed much more personality than the rest (and quite vocal, we might add) and two, he was a little bit older and, to be honest, a little pathetic looking. He was very scrawny but, as you can see from the photo, he's filled out quite nicely. He is still a very vocal cat, and he is extremely affectionate. Our lives would not be the same without our talkative kitty. Loki lives contently with our many animals, sleeping in sunbeams and staring out his favorite window in his comfortable little bed.

DOG NANNY

Sadly Koona contracted lymphoma and passed 6/18/2008. He has blessed our lives forever.
